Devotional Exodus 35: Bezalel, Oholiab, and the Talents from God

I came across this topic in my reading of Exodus 35:30–35, where Moses speaks to the people about Bezalel and Oholiab as those specifically chosen by God to perform artistic work in gold, silver, and bronze, to cut and set precious stones, to carve wood, and to execute all kinds of artistic designs and craftsmanship.

Open the book of Exodus to these verses and you will see what I am talking about.

They were equipped by God through the Holy Spirit with wisdom and knowledge to perform all types of creative work with precious metals and fabrics.

He also gave them the wisdom and the ability to teach others.

In other words, first, the ability or talent they possessed was expressly given by God.

Second, they possessed those talents solely to do the Will of God (i.e., to create the utensils and items out of metal and expensive fabric for God’s Temple).

Therefore, if they did not use these talents for the purpose for which they were given, God would surely take them back.

Or they would not be able to be as creative and prolific as they ought to be if they did not have the Holy Spirit within them.

I believe the same thing applies to us.

All our capacities, skills, and natural qualities, such as our appearance, etc., are gifts from God.

And if we use them as we should according to the Will of God, we will be more successful in what we do because we are blessed by God.

We must never forget this fact: everything we have comes from God.

And all of them are tools that God gave us so that we can use them for good and to serve Him—including our appearance😉
